Frequently asked questions
What is Cave Horror Project?
Cave Horror Project is a survival-horror modpack built on Forge and Minecraft 1.20.1, with around 185 mods and a built-in questline to pull you forward. The surface is only the start: the real pack lives underground, where deep dark caves, dungeons and custom monsters turn every descent into a tense fight for light and supplies. It pairs a guided quest progression with genuine horror pacing, so you always have a next goal even as the caves get more dangerous the further down you go.
Pack releases and client downloads
- Latest recommended at installation (can change) — Matching client download · Build with this release
Minecraft and loader versions are bundled with each pack release. Use the same pack release on every client. Listed release IDs are installer options; they do not guarantee that every historical release will start successfully. Custom releases can be selected in the builder, but are not verified supported versions.
How much RAM do I need for Cave Horror Project?
Cave Horror Project needs at least 6 GB of RAM, so it runs on the paid sizes - the size list on this page shows which ones qualify and what they cost.
What do my players need to join?
Players install Cave Horror Project through the CurseForge app and connect with your server address. Everyone needs the same pack version, which is the pinned one your server runs.
Is it better solo or with friends?
It works solo as a tense cave-diving horror, but the questline and the deeper dungeons are a lot more fun in co-op - splitting the light, the loot and the fights with friends is where the pack shines.
Can I switch my server to a different modpack later?
Yes. Open Server settings on the dashboard and choose Rebuild server. Switching permanently deletes every world, file, mod, configuration, and backup on that server; the rebuild costs $0 when its RAM tier stays the same, and its billing cycle and server address do not change.
